Panna Tiger Reserve

Panna Tiger Reserve was declared in 1994 as the twenty second tiger reserve of India. Situated in the Vindhyan mountain range in the northern part of Madhya Pradesh, Panna Tiger Reserve is spread over the Panna and Chhatarpur districts. Panna was also the hunting reserve of its erstwhile rulers of Chhatarpur and Bijawar princely states. The terrain here consists of extensive plateaus and gorges.

Panna is rather an open, dry landspace, with the topography and water distribution governing the spatial presence of wild animals. The River Ken Flowing from the south to the north through the reserve. It is the lifeline of this reserve. With re-introduction of tigers, Panna tiger reserve in on the track to revive its glory and justification to be called as genuine Tiger Reserve. New generation of Tigers is now flourishing successfully in forest.

Panna tiger reserve is just 25 km from khajuraho is a rare combination of cultural and wild life safari tourism almost together. Tourists, who visit Khajuraho, make it a point to get to the Panna National Park to see the majestic cats in the wild. The nearest railway station Satna is 73 km. away from Panna Tiger Reserve. It has the connectivity from all the major cities of state and country specially connected to many places in central and west India.

By Air

The nearest airport Khajuraho is about 43 km. away from Panna Tiger Reserve. It is well connected by flights with different cities and places in India. From the airport, you can get a taxi or bus to reach Panna Tiger Reserve.

OPENING OF RESERVE : Every Year Panna Tiger Reserve remains open from 15th October to 30th June for visitors. The park is close from July to October for visitors.
