Panna Tiger Reserve was declared in 1994 as the twenty second tiger reserve of India. Situated in the Vindhyan mountain range in the northern part of Madhya Pradesh, Panna Tiger Reserve is spread over the Panna and Chhatarpur districts. Panna was also the hunting reserve of its erstwhile rulers of Chhatarpur and Bijawar princely states. The terrain here consists of extensive plateaus and gorges.
Panna is rather an open, dry landspace, with the topography and water distribution governing the spatial presence of wild animals. The River Ken Flowing from the south to the north through the reserve. It is the lifeline of this reserve. With re-introduction of tigers, Panna tiger reserve in on the track to revive its glory and justification to be called as genuine Tiger Reserve. New generation of Tigers is now flourishing successfully in forest.
Panna tiger reserve is just 25 km from khajuraho is a rare combination of cultural and wild life safari tourism almost together. OPENING OF RESERVE : Every Year Panna Tiger Reserve remains open from 15th October to 30th June for visitors. The park is close from July to October for visitors.
