Situated in Darjeeling district at Kalimpong subdivision, Neora Valley National Park is a pristine & virgin forest of North Bengal. The lush green forest and valleys, bamboo groves, rhododendrons & mountain streams make it a paradise for adventure and nature lovers. The area was declared a National Park in 1986 and since then has been one of primary destinations for tourists and hikers.
The national park is spread over 88 sq. km. & is one of the richest biosphere reserves. Endangered species like Red Panda & enormous variety of flora & fauna made Neora Valley National Park a USESCO world heritage site. Its floral diversity is noteworthy with mixed species of rhododendrons, bamboo, sal etc. along with several species of orchids. Neora Valley National Park is a paradise for the ornithologists. A wide variety of birds are found here.
The rain forests between 1,500 m and 2,570 m is the home of several rarities like Satyr Tragopan, Rufous-throated Partridge, Golden-throated Barbet, Crimson-breasted Woodpecker, Darjeeling Pygmy Wren-Babbler, Woodpecker, Mountain Imperial Pigeon, Bay Woodpecker & many more. Changey Falls, located towards the lower part of the valley is also developing as a major tourist spot.

OPENING OF PARK: Every Year Neora Valley National Park remains open from 15sth September to 15th June for visitors. Remaining time the park is close for visitors.
PERMIT : Permits obtain from the concerned park authority before you make entry to the Park. Tourists can obtain day visit permit at entry gate.

JEEP SAFARI IN NEORA VALLEY: Neora Valley National Park consists of mixed vegetation ranging from tall grasslands to thick Sal forest and so is the perfect habitat of variety of animals and birds. JEEP Safari and trekking at Neora Valley is a delight for adventure lovers and wildlife photographers.
Jeep Safaris at Neora Valley can be done in morning and afternoon Shift. The morning shift starts early at the time of Sunrise up to 04 hrs & the afternoon one starts in between 02 PM to 03 PM up to sunset. Travelers are allowed to travel along with one naturalist and one driver. It is advisable to book safari rides in well advance to avoid any chance of unavailability.
TREKKING IN NEORA VALLEY: Trekking in this park is mostly a jungle trail and can be very muddy during rain. If you decide to trek, one way would take about 45 minutes walk. You must take a guide, who shows you the trail that goes all the way. The typical smell of the forest trees, chirping of the birds and the strong winds make this sojourn really unforgettable.
