Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary

Spread over an area of 389.54 km. Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the south-east corner of Tripura. The Sanctuary is a trademark of the usual inheritance of Tripura and gives evidence to the varied Tripura flora and fauna. Throughout the year the Sanctuary is an excellent place for ecological sightseeing and attracts numerous visitors to explore the enchanting wilderness of the region.

Nestled in the jungle-clad terrains of Tripura the place exhibits the rich natural heritage of the state which includes the vivacious wildlife and vibrant fauna of the region. One can find numerous medical and botanical species in abundance in the surroundings of the sanctuary. Multi colored flora of the forest augments the horticultural value. Numerous orchids grow dotting the beautiful landscape of Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary.

Adjoining to the sanctuary, there is a vast water reservoir covering almost 300 sq km of an area. This water reservoir attracts several resident and migratory water birds. The Sanctuary houses animal like Elephants, Bison, Sambar, Barking deer, Wild goat or Sarow apart from many other animals and reptiles.

WHEN TO VISIT : The most preferable time to visit Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary is from the months of October to April. During that time the temperate climate would allow you to spend quite some time viewing the graces of Mother Nature.
