Bagdara Wildlife Sanctuary

Spread over an area of about 478 sq km. Bagdara Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1978. The Sanctuary has an extremely dense dry deciduous mixed forest and harbors a wide variety of flora and fauna. The Wildlife Sanctuary is maintained by the government of Madhya Pradesh and considered as one of the unique protected area of the state.

Bagdara Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh is the natural habitat of more than hundred species of plants and wild animals. The dry deciduous mixed forest of the Sanctuary has various kinds of trees like tall teak trees, orchids, mango groves and gigantic creepers are predominant. The prominent Fauna at the Sanctuary include tiger, panther, chinkara, cheetal, sambar deer, wild boar and black buck and birds of various kinds.

There are various tourists’ attractions both in and around the Bagdara Wildlife Sanctuary, like the rock paintings of the ‘Goura Hillock’ and other wildlife sanctuaries. Self-petrol vehicles or diesel vehicles, which are not five years old, are the primary mode of transportation within the sanctuary.

OPENING OF SANCTUARY: Bagdara Wildlife Sanctuary is open throughout the year except for rainy season when the forest becomes inaccessible for visitors.
